week 4 on success…

I have officially survived 4 weeks of NO JUNK FOOD! The beginning was difficult but by the time I got to week 2, it was much easier. I haven’t suffered from any serious cravings and I think I can officially start my healthier better living! I did indulge myself when I went away for my girls weekend but hey rules are meant to be broken… 😛 *you try saying NO to red velvet cake, lol* Its been a long four weeks filled with loads of temptation (The Pup brought out boxes of Ferrero Rochers, one of my friends re-discovered her love for chocolate biscuits, my mum decided that the month of June would be one where my favourite biscuits are always available in the kitchen, etc etc etc)…

I’ve decided I’m not going to cut junk food out completely from my diet. I’ll allow myself to indulge about once a week but I will take more notice of what I eat. But overall,  I’m happy I survived. 🙂

Here’s to a healthier, happier Sunshyne! ♥

week 3

Going to see my girls this weekend. So excited 🙂 Its been a while since we last hung out! But I’m worried about my no junk food challenge… One of the girls discovered an amazing bakery which we will definitely check out so I guess I should just accept that I may possibly cheat this weekend… *actually its very likely* 😉

Otherwise week 3 was uneventful. Cravings were rare and I managed to get through them. In other news,  The Pup has stopped supplying my shoe fund *double bleh* maybe his swearing wasn’t so bad after all… lol

Enjoy your weekend!

week 2 on cheating…

Week 2 was much better. The cravings were not as bad and I’ve learnt how to snack healthier. I’ve discovered Provita crunchyvites which are available in three fruity flavours; lemon and honey, red cherry and currant, and orange and sesame seed. I’m not sure just how healthy they are but its better than reaching for some chocolate and they taste good too 🙂

I’m also trying to get into eating more fruits and nuts. I love cashews so that’s what I’ll be snacking on now. But like all good things, a little goes a long way. Cashews have a high fat content so over consumption can cause unwanted weight gain so moderation is KEY!

My one splurge is these Bakers mini cheddars. I have a fairly good idea these are NOT healthy but they are baked so that’s how I make myself feel better.

In other news, The Pup’s potty mouth is much better now. The money I’ve collected in fines is less than the number of days we have gone through this month so far. So that’s a good sign. I hope this will last way after the challenge is over! I probably have to start thinking about what gift to get him now… any suggestions will be welcome 🙂

Have a good weekend!

Day 31

Today is my final challenge for the 31 Day Reset.

It is designed to be a virtual life coaching experience that will equip you with all the tools you need to reset your life. If you are interested in trying it out click here

Today, I create a vision board to remind myself of all my goals and dreams. It will be a collage of pictures and quotes to remind me of where I want to go way after this challenge is over. I’m going to use the O Dream board program to create mine.

Stay tuned for the dream board…

Day 30

I have to think about how I want to be remembered, what mark I want to make on the world before I die? What I want to contribute or what I want to be known for in my life? It took me about 4/5 days to write my own eulogy. Thinking about what people will say when you’re dead is not something one looks forward to doing.  But I finally managed to complete the task.

Chiedza Chichi Sunshyne Chikoto was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and spent the first 18 years of her life there. After high school, she went to Cape Town, South Africa for further studies. That little 4 year stint must have been when the travelling bug bite her. Chichi travelled. Man, did she travel. Africa, Europe, America, Asia you name it. She loved new adventures and was always ready to go somewhere and do something fun.  She always had a smile on her face and laughter was never far away either – a great entertainer. Chichi was also known for her networking dinner parties. She was always bringing together different groups of people over some good food.

Her motto was I’m not weird, I’m a limited edition and that is exactly how Chichi went through life. She was unapologetic for who she was and was always trying to be true to herself. Chichi was stubborn but that persistence saw her become a flourishing business woman. It also got her into trouble a few times but she always stood up for what she thought was right and hated to see injustice being done. This probably explains why she ended up working as an advocate for women and children. She was known by many names, mother, wife, sister, friend, counsellor. Chichi is survived by the love of her life, 4 amazing children and 6 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Day 19

So before I get to the end of my 31 day challenge (more like 40), my accountability partner has noticed that I skipped a few days and she is making me go back and do them.

I have to redo *no, do as redo implies I did it already*, I have to do Day 19. I have to take someone on a date. She’s countered all my excuses! I’ve tried the no money approach, she said she’ll give me the money. I’ve tried saying I’ll be sick, it will rain, I’m going out of town, everything I could think of but she is not budging. She has even gone to the extent of calling someone for me. So now I have to go on this date.

*why did I choose her again?*

Maybe I’ll write about the date after…

Day 11

I found an accountability partner a while back but I just hadn’t written about it. At the time I was doing this challenge she was out of the country so I had to wait for her to get back into town before I could publish this post. An accountability partner is someone who will walk through “life” with me and make sure that I am on track to reaching my goals. I chose her because she asks me the tough questions. She is always around so she can see how I spend my time and whether I’m cheating or not. Plus she is a good friend who has similar goals. She stands firm and doesn’t let me get away with making excuses or procrastinating (see day 19).
