Ron White once said ‘I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade… And try to find somebody whose life has given them vodka, and have a party.’
The term cocktail is actually believed to have originated way back when. Apparently a cock’s tail was used to indicate that a drink had alcohol in it. Other sources say a cock’s tail was used to stir the drink. Either way, there is something enthralling about cocktails. Maybe its the bright colours they come in or the pretty umbrellas or the fancy glasses used. Or maybe its because I tend to judge things by appearance so if it looks good then it must taste great.
There is a place on Long Street in Cape Town, actually there are 2 places in Long Street that I used to frequent quite often. I think perhaps because of how easy it was to get there and also because I just liked Long Street! Anyhow, I digress. These places were a source of many a great night – good music, good company and MOJITOS, strawberry daiquiris, cosmos, bahama mamas, mai tais, martinis, caipirinhas and many more cocktails whose interesting names cannot be said by a nice girl like me 🙂
Man, I miss Alan’s mojitos.
